UK federation authentication gateways webinar - November 2024

The UK federation are organising a webinar, featuring a guest speaker from the Finnish Federation to discuss authentication gateways for Shibboleth.

HAKA, the Finnish Federation, is managed by CSC (IT Center for Science Ltd). Since 2015, CSC has been consulting on, developing, and operating Shibboleth-based authentication gateways. Their deployments range from national infrastructure gateways handling hundreds of thousands of authentications daily to small, service-specific adapters for interoperability purposes. They also manage ecosystem-like gateways for services with extraordinary requirements, such as handling sensitive data.

To our knowledge, no one else operates at this scale with Shibboleth. This webinar will be an opportunity to share these solutions with a broader audience and connect communities with similar plans or existing implementations, potentially leading to collaboration.

The webinar will showcase the solutions CSC has developed over the past decade, demonstrating what can be achieved with Shibboleth out of the box and what requires additional extensions. By the end, we hope to show that Shibboleth is a relevant product not just as an Identity Provider (IdP) but also as an authentication gateway/proxy.

We have scheduled the webinar for Thursday, 14 November 2024, at 1pm GMT, and it will last for an hour.
