Metadata Query Protocol
With the growth of the UK federation and the import of metadata aggregates from other federations via eduGAIN, the UK federation metadata aggregate has become increasingly larger (~60Mb as of October 2020). The increasing size of the aggregate has resulted in some metadata consumers beginning to have scaling issues, usually manifesting as out of memory errors.
To address this, we offer the Metadata Query Service (MDQ) which allows metadata requests for individual entities as and when they are needed.
